Hello there and welcome to the site of: Excellent Preserves, Chutneys, Sauces and Pickles.
My name is Jane and I work with David and Sonja of Channel’s Norfolk Preserves. There is a picture in my mind, of David wearing his big white ‘apron’, which still brings a smile to my lips; there he was standing over the biggest pot you could fit on his kitchen cooker with an equally large wooden spoon, stirring and stirring, reminiscent of the “Sorcerers Apprentice” , although the preserve did not flow all over the floor thank goodness.
David was pursuing his hobby, possessing a real passion for producing the very best preserves containing the very best ingredients. He wanted the best on his table and he determined to make it so.
The first product was Marmalade with Brandy and proved so popular among family and friends; it was a natural step to market it and develop more preserves to add to the range. Believe me it is a taste sensation.
Time has moved on, there are many more products in the range now, all made with the same attention to detail and content. There are only three ingredients in the preserves Fruit, Sugar and Pectin. More fruit content less sugar, easily detected when looking at the jars.
Norfolk Preserves currently markets throughout East Anglia and Essex, predominantly to delicatessens, farm shops, tea rooms, restaurants and café s with export outlets now into Belgium.
David and Sonja use only the best local ingredients where ever possible, this commitment to the local economy makes a difference and as Norfolk Preserves has grown there are now seven people involved in the business.
‘Places and Faces’ December 2010 edition, highlighted Norfolk Preserves in their showcase magazine, you can read the article and find out more about this exceptional local business on the about us page.
There will be a ‘Recipe Feature’ on a regular basis; the recipes will be on a variety of themes from very old, before the days of forced growing and importing from the four corners of the globe, through to recipes that compliment the product range of Norfolk Preserves.
Look out for the “Special Offer and Promotional Section”. You will also find information about new product launches and, watch this space for an introduction to Norfolk Preserves first presentation of celebration hampers.
CHANNELS NORFOLK PRESERVES
Tucked away in a residential suburb north of Great Yarmouth, a husband and wife team are producing some of the best tastes ever put into a bottle. Norfolk Preserves is a family business which runs from a small shop at Hamilton Road, just off Caister Road in Great Yarmouth.
David trained as an electronics engineer but seventeen years ago, a hobby of making different sauces and experimenting with various tastes grew into Norfolk Preserves, when he produced his first commercial batch of marmalade with brandy. This marmalade is produced with the whole fruit which makes it thick and orangey compared to conventional marmalades which tend to be a sugary syrup with a few strands of peel. All jams and marmalades have 60 grams per hundred fruit content, sugar content 55 grams per hundred.
Fresh produce implies seasonal range changes and new lines are constantly being added. Locally grown ingredients are used wherever possible, although there are some necessary exceptions, Balsamic vinegar has to be specially imported, Dijon mustard comes from Dijon. Keen growers have even been known to bring along their own fruit to make up a batch for preserving or bottling.

Growing Range
The range just grew and today includes some forty six products and gift baskets. The range includes three varieties of pickled onions, chutneys, sauces, marmalades, jams, honey and mustards.
Quality Produce
Quality is the watchword and the couple prepare and bottle everything by hand in their immaculate kitchen behind the shop. A range of their products have won Great Taste Awards including: Sticky Rib Sauce, Barbecue Sauce, Marmalade with Whisky, Tomato Ketchup and their special Brown Sauce.
Also available are Salad Herbs and flavoured salts from Schrya Foods. Fresh whole spices with grinders so always fresh from the Fresh Whole Spice Co.
We welcome enquiries from Trade outlets. Farm Shops, Delicatessens. Large Catering packs always available
Those who fancy just tickling their taste buds will find a welcome at the shop which is open
10 am to 3 pm from Tuesday to Friday.
